A Buffet Blunder

"How can one restaurant have such a large amount of food?" I thought to myself as I gasped in amazement at the scrumptious spread before me. Last week, my parents and I went to a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I heard the rumbling of my parents' stomachs. Salivating, we were ready for a feast.

Excitedly, I piled my plate with one serving of each dish. I was surrounded by pyramids of mashed potatoes, chilled lobsters and sushi. By the time I sat down, there was a mountain of food before me. I began stuffing myself silly with all the food. My parents frowned, advising me not to wolf everything down so quickly, but I did not listen.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain stab my stomach. I was having a stomachache! Gagging, I spat out the bits of food in my mouth. It was too late when I realised my blunder. I clutched my stomach in agony. "Ouch, that hurts!" I yelped at the top of my lungs as my face turned pale.

As quick as light, my mother handed me some of my medicine as she knew that something like that would happen. Gradually, the piercing pain went away. Shaking his head, my father chided me for making such a foolish mistake.

I really hope I will remember this lesson and never overeat again the next time I go for a buffet.
